We got quite excited last week when this Porsche Cayman shooting brake appeared on TopGear.com US, because we’re big fans of two-door estates. We assumed this was just an after-market tuner job, though, but maybe we were wrong…
Those of you who commented on our news story had many ideas as to what it was, the most feasible being a Targa roof disguised under that extra rear-end.
But there were a lot of you who thought it looked computer generated, and felt like it was something from a console game.
And those readers might be on to something.
The picture you can see here is, according to fansite ForzaCentral, a screenshot from the forthcoming Forza Motorsport 3 game.
So does the shooting brake exist and has this screenshot revealed it? Or is it all just an elaborate teaser for a concept that will appear in the game?
The plot thickens. But we still want a real one.

forza is as realistic as it will get
I want that porsche! It’s a family car and a posche!
The last video looked like a real world shoot so this really does make things interesting! I think I would still prefer a BMW Z5 to that, it looks like a half Cayman half Panamera.
What is that! It looks like a herse parked on top of a Cayman, or even mated with one! Honestly Porsche are just wasting time and money with this one, but if they want to ruin their reputation then they’re doing the right thing to do so.
It reminds me of the old Honda Insight a little with it’s swooping rear end. It seems like Porsche are getting their great sports cars and sticking a Panamera roof onto it. An estate Cayman is just preposterous. What next? The Porsche 911 Eddie Izzard edition?
Its a fake. ive been on the official game message boards at forzamotorsport.net and it has been called out as fake.
I had delivery today just next to Porshe dealer on Berkeley sq. Couldnt see panamera but there were few caymans. And I tell you something.
If one day I’ll find some ritch relatives who will turn out to be wery generous people. And in they generosity they will buy me a car for my birthday. If it turns out to be cayman I would kill them and burn they house. It is so ugly that even David Blunket could not get drunk enough…
Same goes to this stupid concept. Family car Porshe? Nein,Danke!
You don’t use knife as toilet paper, do you?
And idea of fusing such a two extremes is just well, risky.
P.s: Can I have a job at Top Gear? I could make James go faster.
Anyone else thinking it’s a minger?
This just came to my mind:
A coupe Panamera?
Panamera GT3?
Some crap that somehow made the panamera look worse?
@Torch(USA): even if it DID exist for real, it’s a fake. It’s gotta be. It’d better be.
Its in a game..the pic doesn’t from any angle looks realistic..
This is definitely a game, the rev meter is in the bottom right and that green line is the suggested racing line option they have in Forza 2, which yes, is in Forza 3 also.
Anyone else think it looks a bit like a volvo C30?
Looks like a fake to me. Take a pic of a Cayman from Forza, stretch the roofline back with photoshop… Done. More evidence it’s faked – Note how there are double images of the door handles, fenders, background etc, like two frames of video have been captured in one photo, but the rear roofline is strangely clear/unblurred?
i think it may be fake but it looks really cool to me…reminds me of the bmw Z3 m coupe…that was an awesome car
@13, i agree it does look a bit like that, i think it would be awesome if porsche actually produced it, and the C30 is a pretty cool looking car anyway!
I think they should make a limited run, but not mass produce it. Shooting brakes are awesome. I saw a DB5 Shooting Brake once (actually I think it was at MPH). Or it could be a 2+1 seater. That would be nice ‘n’ wierd.
If it is just a game-only concept, though, then it’s got nothing over the RUF Concept Car form Project Gotham Racing, or indeed the 780PS hydrogen-powered GTbyCITROEN. Unless it has, like, 800bhp or something.
But what would they call it? The Caymanera? The Box-ter? The Cayenneman Turbo? Or something really dry like Cayman Shooting Brake Concept. Or Forza Cayman. Or CAYMANbyFORZA!
Someone called it a hearse in the first article. The Porsche Hearse GTS, I like that. Coffin inside, leave the lid open, pedal to the metal. XD
Well done to everyone clever enough to spot that the game screenshot above, described in the blog as a game screenshot, is in fact totally fake and just a poxy game screenshot. With all the bad news in the world these days, it’s comforting to know that at least we’re never going to run out of rocket scientists or brain surgeons.
hhmmm possibly an aftermarket tune for purchase on the game or maybe even a debut of the car (nissan 370z on NFS undercover remember?). Either way it’d be a lot of fun drifting that thing lol.
It looks like a poor crossing-over of the very first Volvo C30 prototype, a Lancia Delta and a hearse with Cayman backlights
Aftermarket tune? “Hmmm, what this Cayman S needs is a Shooting Brake Kit. I think I’ll fit one to my Audi S5 and my Ferrari F430 too.”
Actually, that mod would make some interesting cars…
The Danish car magasine “Bilmagasinet” featured a reader picture, that has just been taken in Stuttgart of that car on the road. In silver.
So I guess it’s pretty damn real.
GTA beats forza every time
I think you’ll find Asteroids is the most complete game ever…
FORGET THE CAYMAN ESTATE JUST GET AN C63 AMG ESTATE!
WHAT IS THIS A SKODA IN DISGUISE?
