Foster’s yacht club

Posted by Jamie Hibbard at 12:49 pm on Wednesday June 10, 2009

There’s no doubt that Sir Norman Foster has designed some awesome buildings in his career, but we’re really interested in this, the 40 Signature Series yacht.

The 41-metre yacht is currently under construction at the Rodriquez boat yard in Italy, and is apparently a new concept in private luxury super-yachts, that offers more deck space and interior comfort than any equivalent yacht of her size.

The Signature Series is what we really want for the Monaco GP next year, yet although Foster’s partner in this venture, YachtPlus, offers a joint-ownership purchase plan, £1.6million for an eighth of a yacht is still somewhat out of our reach.

But if you do manage to reach one, you’ll find 2,790 sq ft of internal floor space, 2,495 sq ft external, five suites to sleep 12, and enough room for the crew too.

Plus she has room for the jet-skis to park under the rear deck.

Sounds like a fine week in the Mediterranean to us.

Maybe James should have taken one of these to race against Hammond instead? It would have been a lot more comfy.

Stupid color… they will be burning inside, and waste tons of fuel on climate control.

Yes. They should have painted it bright yellow instead.

Dude. If you can afford this boat you do not care about petit casch you spend on fuel.

Dude, if i had one, i’d have it in black, and i get the point about it absorbing the heat, but come on, if you’re cruising around the med coastline in a black one of those, people will get out of the way.

That is a truly stunning design, though.

Ahhhhh awsome! I’ve always admired Sir Norman Foster for his creations, especially the McLaren Technology Centre which is probably the single greatest piece of architecture I have ever seen! And now this yacht, pretty immense if u ask me.

Utterly ugly, it’s a small frigate with a cycle helmet on. But I know that rich folk are usually mad, with invented tastes and way too little common sence to go with their cash. However, someone will like it and pay way more than it’s worth, so fair play to Mr. Foster.
