£16k Veyron… for a day

Posted by Matt Master at 4:00 pm on Thursday June 4, 2009

Impossibly rich? Mad about cars? Or just mad in a medical sense? Then step this way Sir. Yours for a snip at £16,000 a day, the ultimate holiday rental: a Bugatti Veyron.
This is real. Quite honestly. A Berkshire-based leasing company called Holders Vehicle Contracts has at its disposal the world’s fastest, priciest production car. The car that demanded months of negotiation before even the Stig was allowed to drive it. The car that needs a special set of tyres to cope with its maximum speed. The car that Jenson Button himself is tooling around in when he’s not winning back-to-back Grand Prix.

But now we can all have a go.  Well some of us at any rate. That £16,000 daily outlay notwithstanding, you also need to be able to put down £100,000 as a deposit.

Holders VC have already found a few willing punters though. And apparently the mostly popular destination is… St Tropez.  Quel surprise.

Still, if you have as much fun in one as May had, then it’ll be worth it. Won’t it?

That’s incredibly expensive! £16,000 per day and £100,000 deposit, that’s a big lump of money. But what the Veyron has is 1001bhp which is priceless. It is also stunning to look at.

But at 16k you’ll have to drive it for as long as possible, so take it on a track day, then it might just be worth it.

But for the person with just a spare 1k, you can get an Aston Martin for a day.

Te Veyron has a W16 engine, which means it costs £1000 to rent a cylinder. XD

A “big bug” (Veyron) owner over on Pistonheads has just had his serviced.

    £13k for the service.
50K Euros for an extra 12 months warranty.

    And, wait for it.

£24k for a set of tyres, £5.5k for a front, £6.5k for a rear. Also the new tyres have 5mm of tread, the originals had 7mm.

All it would take to cost the hire company £24k is 20 mins in a car park on full lock ;)

That car is really Ugly. And it really defies the idea of driving altogether. What’s the point of having a monstrously fast car if you can’t floor it? I’d contend with BUYING a MK4 Golf GTI and Flooring it on the Autobahn, I’ll get more rush off of that than from shivering while I peer around me while simultaneously checking the speedo every couple nanoseconds to make sure I’m not above the speed limit and that no cops are around. Because if they are I’ll concentrate on them and inevitably end up some odd 60 mph above the speed limit before I even notice, and only then, It’ll only be because the cop’s hands are gripping his steering wheel, teeth gritting, and sirens flashing.
    Stupid thing to drive.

but still, if i had a spare 16k….. everyone will miss this car in 50 years, how amazing must it be to say “i drove it once”

all astons, ferraris, lambos, they’ll all disappear as memories of phenominal cars…. but the veyron will always be something different.

george, why ?? it will never be up there with the e type, the 250 gto the mcL f1, or the countach.. ot will primarily be rememberd for being the car with a thousand and one horese under the bonnet and subsequently for being a bugatti… unlike the conchord the veyron is not an icon, not even an engineering marvel it is simply a fast bugatti and thereby a bit of a marketing catch and vw’s to date most ultimate statement of “yes, we can”.. do you honestly believe the jezzter when he says the world will never see a better car ? do you even want to ???

prancong pony, the Veyron actually has 987bhp. The power dial is in PferdeStarke (PS), a European and Japanese measurement of power. 1PS = 0.98632007271bhp.

And I think people will remember it. People still think Veyron rather than SSC Ultimate Aero when they think “Fastest Car in the World”, plus being the first production car to top 250mph is a real milestone. At the very least it will end up in a museum like Beaulieu.

mikeado, pferde= horse.. staerke= power :D and notice how I didn’t write bhp ? I’m sure the veyron will have it’s place in museums and private collections due to it’s price and exclusivity there is no doubt about that.. but if we put it into perspective and call it for what it is, one of the fastest production cars at the moment, a car that draws attention to itself mainly by that fact alone..will never have icon status. It’s an aesthetic catastrophe and a car most of us will only see in a museum.. the past decade in mu opinion gave us a lot of interesting cars that will go down as phenomenal like the alfa 8c, the veyron, the mc laren merc, the porsche carrera gt but the one to join the e type, countach an co. will without a shed of doubt be paganni’s zonda..

  49. the prancing pony said...

    Bugatti Veyron RRP: £890,000

    890,000 / 16,000 = 55.6

Add insurance premiums and you’d need to drive your Veyron for 100 days over 3 years for it to be better value than renting.

    I reckon renting’s a better bet.
