Also ‘fifty-foot drops of death’ and ‘Armco of death’. He’s fighting the wheel here – and is very quick as far as I can tell. Try not to fall off the edge of your seat…

That is some of the best footage I have EVER seen! Rockin’!
Can anyone shed any light on who it is and what they’re driving?
Looks like a radical or some such racer-come-kitcar-come-me ntalisttransport (by which I don mean driven by star of crappy American drama).
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Yes, he’s fighting it, he’s having to wait until he’s straightened up before putting the hammer down.
Somewhere in the Med probably, France maybe?
I’ve been told Audi V12 and BMW V8, but nothing definite. I’d really love to know about this! Talented driving plus enormous mechanical grip = HUGE fun.
If you know – please let me know!
I doubt that’s a V8 wit hthat noise. It almost sounded Aston-ish (I know it isn’t an AM, it just sounds like one), so I’d say V12.
*Surfs YouTube*
AHA!! It’s a BMW Norma M20. Whatever the hell that is. Search Norma M20 and you just get this video posted a bunch of times by different people.
He’s in Sainte Beaume, apparently.

Some info on this car.
Oh, and I forgot, what Godly driving!
That is an awesome video; incredible driving and a stunning track (or rather road!).
Oh my god does that thing have tiny wheels, their almost as small as the drivers head!!! (see Mikeado link for photos)
in the mirrors the driver got a white helmet like stigs. could this be the stig?
The feeling of speed is sensational. Very impressive.
For the first time ever I have screamed while watching a youtube clip (exept 2girls1cup, but that was a different kind of screamng). It is enjoyable in the end when he has a clear rythm and just dances, but in the beginning when he goes full on as if it was a straigt line (where there obviously is none) it is just horrifying. In a good sense that is, of cause.
Modify the radical to run on dirt and that would be world rally champion easily.
ace
First of all whoa that is something else!!! secondly I think that “route” Is the main road to a French Village called “Gordon” (pronounced Gore-Don as in the godfather don)thirdly he or she needs to be signed in F1 who ever was driving that rocket…..show them how it’s done!!!
I’ve been trying to find a better quality version of this video today, but without success.
Bit of a topic deviation, but I just found this:
http://www.youtube.com/wa tch?v=A2FpIypzonI
Sebastian Loeb does a demonstration in a C4. Its not quite “Gymkhana”, but its pretty impressive driving none the less.
It’s a BMW V8, maybe out of the M3, but that’s not the radical, the radicar would probably be faster.
I want one of those and that road!!!!! lets get JC in that and the stig.
ARGH!!!!! BMW ad is breaking my browser. Can’t read text – arhg!!!!!! Page gone white
To PJ: Check the link in Mikeado’s post (#7); the engine is the 3 litre straight 6 from a BMW M3.
there is a lot of races like that in italy and the championship is called “cronoscalata” (time attack climbing, or something).
Italians use prototypes and historical cars for it, it depends
He’s no Jensen Button, that’s for sure. Looks like he’s fighting the car every inch of the way.
he is in wales
where did anyone get 12 from?
good driving, looks like good fun too but i do think i would have stained my underwear driving at that speed on that thinner road not knowing what was cumming next…
I remember this was a hyper link on an old blog on the old top gear website still an amazing piece of footage WOW
Showie, if you look closely, he knows exactly whats coming next, he knows that road like the back of his hand.
Look when he goes into the first hairpin, their is no way you could know that was a hairpin bend, however he slows to the perfect speed to take that corner.
Some serious driving none the less, thats a track car, i doubt it’s really designed to tackle hillclimbs.
you driver supercars go bygatti Byron
The vid comes from here. I’ve bought a few of their hillclimb DVD’s, including Group B cars. Really good stuff.

That looks awesome, but just concider all the obstacles at the side of the road he might hit…..i guess the Stig must have been the driver because no human is that brave/stupid
these people are standing beside other peoples cars an laughing at them id really love to see what they drive
oopps sori rng post…. my bad
its an audi r8 le mans car! type r8 hill climb on you tube and this comes up
that was cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me tooo!!!!!!!!
tjarchibald, no it isn’t. Of the many many postings of this video, only one or two say Audi R8, and they’re wrong.
That made my 430 scudaria look like some chavs Saxo, need one of those
My god that’s impressive!!
Maybe Newton was wrong?
@430IHave: It’s spelled ScudEria, you got Saxo right though
The brake discs on that car must be so hot after that that they should be called ‘brake disks of death’
This is an Audi R8, the Le Mans racer (the model before the diesels). Although I dont have a clue why this nutter is driving it up a mountain road at these ridiculous speeds though. Incredible!
To Bigstuff, its not an R8 Le Mans car. For a start the car in that video is FAR too loud for an R8; anyone whose seen the R8 or R10 in action will understand. As stated by Mikeado in post #7, the car is a BMW Norma M20. Follow the link in Mikeado’s post to see the full spec on the car.
as a friend just pointed out to me, this is speeded up, look how fast he pulls his visor down at the start……
