Yesterday I was at a test track where they hadn’t managed to clear the steering pad before I arrived after about 7 inches of snow. Nothing to hit? Powerful and technologically advanced ‘Sports SAV’? You just would, wouldn’t you? Anyone else been out perfecting their wintertime skills?

I saw a BMW M3 doing doughnuts at an industrial estate this morning. I wanted to play but its hard trying to doughnut a C2
tom, you have too much free time, really.
A thousand new post and the “x6 frenzy time in the snow” are bad signals.
I’ve spent a good portion of my commute this winter (in Minneapolis) going around corners sideways & steering with the throttle. Granted, my Civic Si (similar to your Type R) isn’t quite the same as an Evo or STI, but still entertaining.
Why wouldn’t it work? A bog standard clio works in the snow if you’re not a muppet in it. I’ll tell you something that doesn’t though, my motorbike… Shant be trying that again.
What a bloody English idiot. Just about what we can expect from am ignoramus from south of the border. I am not a Brown fan but that comment was extremely racist
At least now it camouflages in the snow, you can’t see it.
Btw, what did you think of the X6′s silver medal in the WTFs?
True Dubai spec would be BMW’s fantastic 5.0 liter. Such a nice X6 you got there Tom- What happens to the car once Top Gear are finished with it, will it appear on Autotrader?
Hey, J Stevens, you got a Clio?
‘Cause i have, and you’re right, it does work in the snow, plus you can do doughnuts in a Clio, so why wouldn’t you able to do them in a C2, RApple?
And i have never been to so many carparks in a week, and i have never turned so many degrees, sticking the engine on the redline for 20 seconds at a time going round in circles can’t be good for the little 1.2
never mind your suv’s or bmw’s, we need a bit off topgear humour again for us more ordinary people something to lift the doom and gloom of recession and snow,we can have fun with one and its not the Recession, try corner a bend in snow with a trailer attached, you get a good extra rush off adreniline when you relise the roads not wide enough!!!! mind you a few audi signs with highlights is what i call doughnuts with a trailer, you should do a race on a track with caravans attached to volvos. because caravan seasons just around the corner you could minus another three of the road>
@ Adam: Doughnuts in a Clio or C2? In reverse or something? It’s not really the same unfortunately, nor is using the handbrake to drag it round. Doesn’t do your motor much good either
Got some sideways action in my Jeep Grand Cherokee around a deserted circular parking ring! Fun
I would just like to say “What happened to free speach”
Leave Jeremy alone!
And can you please tell the Hamster to get a haircut LOL
I wish to pass on my thanks to Mr Clarkson pointing out the finer details of our PM.
Now it seems the legal people are having an issue and everyone is pretending to get their pants in a twist.
I am Scottish and I have One eye and possibly I am also an Idiot therefore I can make the statement and you can quote me, as much of the media has done to you.
Gordon Brown is a One Eyed(True), Scottish(Although he does not like to be reminded of it, He thinks is is something called British) Idiot(See banking shares for details).
Now Mr Clarkson in future just you say.
My one eyes Scots pal who is a bit of an idiot said Gordon Brown is a….. I surely cannot be racist against myself. I am away to lock the door incase the Political Correct Police take we away for re-education camp.
Real people do not care, all the one eyes Scots are offended at being linked with Brown and ZaNu Labour
On the whole JC thing, me and some friends were coming back from France yesterday when we heard on the radio “Jeremy Clarkson has formally apologised for calling PM Gordon Brown a one-eyed Scottish idiot”.
Everyone laughed.
This is because it’s true. Sure, it could be considered harsh to point it out as Jezza did, but it is still true. Who got him in trouble again anyway? The usual Daily Mail readers with nothing to do?
Kuang, in the snow, you need neither reverse gear nor the handbrake, the thing just spins, the left front wheel (if you’re turning left) hardly goes anywhere, just spins endlessly.
Obviously you can’t do it on normal tarmac, you’d just end up with a shorter bonnet.
Im not saying you CANT, just next to an M3?
Come on.
Charlie Sheen is the Stig. See ‘The Rookie’ for confirmation. Right height, right build, you know its the truth!!!
This still looks bad!!
I’m disgusted by JC’s comments! He forgot to mention that Gordon Brown is dispicable, greedy & incapable of winning an election.
Who here would watch or read Top Gear with JC dancing around what he wants to say instead of just saying it? I’d pack my bags for a better place the day I can’t call my PM names.
PS: Tom, why are you even testing the Ford Focus on big wheels that is the X6?
i wish i thought of doing doughnuts in my car but mine is a fiat grande punto the traction control cannot be turned off
What? No video?!
Good point. I still can’t help but think that with the white paintjob and the black plastic air inlets it looks a bit like an uncute panda. (the animal, not the car)
I love the look of that X6. Esspecially drifting in the snow. It looks so AWESOME!!! Everyone i know thinks it’s hideous, I have to diesagree.
Good choice Tom!
Didn’t he get given an X6 for a year to try & convince him it’s a good car?
I’ve been practicing up on my wintertime skills. In my 1991 Nissan “Truck,” (I think that it is a Pathfinder….) Rear wheel drive fun!… Easy to control… doesn’t matter if it gets the living crap beat out of it… Extreme fun… (2000 BMW 7 series is really fun in the snow also… I got to try my friends’ out.)
Er… anyone interested in how it behaved? ‘Cos Tom’s not telling… Might have made a pig’s ear of it ‘stead of doughnuts.
I think some Scotsman could do with a thicker ear. Should look good next to his one eye. Maybe a sense of humor might be made available as an after market option.
I saw a chav in what looked like a bran new fiesta (Probably stolen) dicking about in the snow….unfourtionally for him it was on the road and he managed to hit a police car….made me chuckle.
What good is this much snow if you don’t do doughnuts and hit police cars in the process.
“Anyone else been out perfecting their wintertime skills?”
Perfecting? Are you having a laugh?
A UK Car driver on Snow, is like a Horse in a Ladder.
I tryed to get the snow skills perfected but in my lotus elise all i did was get stuck in a ditch! lol i had an excuse for sliding my wife on the otherhand in our audi q7 didnt really i got a call to say he had left it in a field after sliding through a hedge!
anyways x6 = worst car ever.
british snow = fun! lol
it just looks to ugly !!
i rate you Jeremy Clarkson !!!
tom get of tg`s web
saw a truck? (not a lorry but sort of) pull a powerslide yesterday=)
